Not Good News Cross Country Skiers
High quality spring skiing is gone. There is still decent skiing out there, but it is broken up with some areas of gray ice with thin vein of snow on side of trail and two bare spots on a 10 km ski. That said if die-hards want to get out (skiing is complimentary). I would advise to wait till afternoon. Once temps rise toward 50 degrees the gray ice breaks down to corn snow and skis fairly well. Even though skiing is less than perfect, the experience of being out on the trails is awesome and relaxing. Birds are out, water is flowing everywhere, sounds and smell of spring are sweet.
Thank You to all our Bear Notch Believers for making this difficult season, a great ski season. See you next year.
Let us make a Bear Notch Believer out of you.
Due to concerns about the corona virus we will be closing all public indoor areas. We will no longer be preparing soups or bread. Our warming area and rental area will closed to public use.  Rentals will no longer be available. Though we are grooming mostly for our season pass holders we are offering public access on a fresh air basis. We do take this virus very seriously, but believe with precautions, people can and should still enjoy outdoor sports safely. We have several picnic tables spaced out for public use. We recommend bringing a lunch and enjoy some scenic open air dining.

Good News Cross Country Skiers

Snow is there but it is wet snow.

To the die-hard skiers. The rain took away some coverage but there is still decent coverage on trails leading to the Experimental Forest trails. Trail surface is too wet to groom today. Trails surface will be wet snow, corn snow with some gray ice down low. We are open on a donation basis. Ski first then donate what you feel it was worth. We groomed Wednesday on Waterfall Trail, Experimental Forest Trails and Albany brook trails(these trails should have decent coverage). We may groom again tomorrow. It is a wait and see situation. Coverage on river trails gone, but coverage in experimental Forest Trails is still decent. Skiers are amazed we still have pleasant spring skiing. Birds are out, water is flowing, sounds and smell of spring are everywhere. Skiing is too good to miss, but it will not last forever. Come out and enjoy a relaxing ski on our scenic trail network.

Good News Cross Country Skiers

We still have very nice trail conditions

Trail surface did not set up overnight so we did not groom. With today's predicted rain we suggest getting out early then donate what you feel it worth. We may get wintery mix before rain. Dress well and skiing will be fun. We groomed yesterday on Waterfall Trail, Experimental Forest Trails and Albany brook trails. Machine groomed loose granular surface (very nice). Coverage on river trails is very thin, but coverage in experimental Forest Trails is solid and groomed. Skiers are amazed we still have at least 10km of groomed pleasant spring skiing. Birds are out, water is flowing, sounds and smell of spring are everywhere. Skiing is too good to miss, but it will not last forever. Come out and enjoy a relaxing ski on our scenic trail network.

Good News Cross Country Skiers

We groomed fresh skate lanes today!

We still have very nice trail conditions

Trail surface set up firm last night. We are out grooming with renovator and tiller tosoften surface. The result is a very nice loose granular trail surface. Skate lanes only no tracks today. Classical skiers will still enjoy the conditions.  We have groomed Waterfall Trail, Experimental Forest Trails and Albany brook trails. Machine groomed loose granular surface (very nice). Coverage on river trails is very thin, but coverage in experimental Forest Trails is solid and groomed. Skiers are amazed we still have at least 10km of freshly groomed pleasant spring skiing.
